Program Details

6-Week Sessions

Our program runs in 6-week sessions, 3 different times a year (Fall, Spring, Summer). We meet once-a-week, with each session lasting between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on age group. 

1 Life Skill

Each session begins with a focus on one of our Life Skills. Thru simple and clear  teaching, participants will learn not only about the skill, but also see examples of what it looks like in action. Testing will be included in this session as a way of monitoring progress, growth, and understanding.

1 Basketball Skill

Participants will learn about one basketball skill that is important to becoming a fundamentally sound player. We will make sure that each participant not only understands “how” to perform the skill, but also “why.” As legendary coach Pete Newell said, “It has been my experience that the player who understands the ‘why’ will consistently respond correctly to the situation.”

1 Bible Verse

Participants will be introduced to a Bible Verse that correlates with the Life Skill, providing them with a biblical perspective on the skill and improving their knowledge of the Bible.

Application

We try and get each participant to understand the connection between the Life Skill and the Basketball Skill, and to be able to see how the life skill will not only give them the chance to grow as a person, but also get better as a basketball player. Most importantly, we want each participant to be able to apply the life skill to their every day life, whether that be at home, at school, or with their friends.
