After-School Programs
Partnerships
We partner with schools and youth centers to bring our Life & Basketball curriculum to life. This curriculum helps youth learn about the basic fundamentals of basketball through safe and fun activities. We also incorporate life skills, aiming to simply integrate the game of basketball with character-building, allowing kids to see the similarities between being a successful player and a successful person.
Times
Our program is exceptionally flexible, providing the convenience of starting immediately after school or at any preferred time throughout the remaining afternoon or evening hours, allowing participants to seamlessly incorporate it into their schedules.
Training
We offer a comprehensive 1-hour training session for enthusiastic volunteers or coaches interested in helping with the program. Additionally, they will gain access to a library of instructional videos showcasing the basketball drills featured in each week’s lesson plan.
Alignment
This program aligns with national physical education standards developed by the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) and is designed to allow us to adjust lessons to fit the specific teaching situations in terms of class size, time, and facility type.
The Science Behind It
WHO (World Health Organization) recommends that children and adolescents aged 5–17 years require at least 60 minutes of moderate or vigorous physical activity daily. Playing basketball is a full cardiovascular workout that also builds the muscles associated with basketball movements. It’s also a sport that helps to reduce childhood obesity due to the physical nature of the game, helping children to be more in shape and thus more confident.
Sponsor a Program
